DeetsView Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By creating an account or using DeetsView ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. DeetsView is a platform developed and operated by Carsten Mortensen Sørensen ("the Operator", "we", "us"). If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service.

Age Requirement (18+): The Service is available only to individuals who are at least 18 years old. By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to use DeetsView, and access will be denied to anyone who does not meet this requirement.

Changes to Terms: We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.

Guest Users: If you access the Service as an invited guest (without creating an account), you accept these Terms by interacting with any part of the Service — including accepting or declining an invitation, submitting an RSVP, or viewing event content. Guests are subject to the same acceptable use rules as registered users.

2. Service in Development (Beta)

DeetsView is currently in active development ("Beta"). The Service is provided for testing and planning purposes. You acknowledge that the Service may contain bugs, experience downtime, undergo significant changes, or suffer data loss. You should not rely on the Service as your sole record of critical event information. Use of the Service is at your own risk.

3. User Accounts & Termination

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access, or block specific IP addresses, at our sole discretion and without prior notice or liability. Reasons for blocking or termination include, but are not limited to:

• Engaging in spamming or sending unsolicited invitations.
• Attempting to circumvent security measures or brute-force accounts.
• Uploading prohibited content as defined in Section 5.
• Any behavior that threatens the stability of the Service or the privacy of other users.

4. Fees and Future Payments

DeetsView is currently provided free of charge. However, we reserve the right to introduce subscription fees or paywalls for certain features (such as premium image storage) in the future. We will notify you in advance of any changes, and you will never be charged without your explicit consent.

5. User Content & Acceptable Use

You retain ownership of the data and files (including text and images) you enter into DeetsView ("User Content"). By uploading content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, and display your content strictly to provide the Service to you and your invited guests.

Prohibited Conduct: You agree not to use the Service to:

• Upload illegal, explicit, harmful, or deeply offensive content or images.
• Upload content that infringes on the intellectual property or copyright of others.
• Plan illegal activities or harass other users/guests.
• Engage in automated scraping, "crawling," or extraction of data from DeetsView.

We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these rules.

Organiser Responsibility for Invitations: By inviting guests to an event on DeetsView, you represent that you have a personal relationship with the invitee and that they reasonably expect to receive an invitation related to group event planning. You must not use the invitation system to contact individuals who have not consented to receiving such communications.

Third-Party Personal Data: If you provide us with personal information about other people — such as the names or email addresses of event attendees — you represent that you have their permission to share that information with us for the purpose of planning and coordinating the event. You are responsible for ensuring that any third-party data you enter into the Service is handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the GDPR where relevant.

Third-Party Services: DeetsView integrates with third-party authentication providers (Google, Facebook, Apple). By using these features, you agree to be bound by their respective Terms of Service and Privacy Policies.

Service Notifications: As part of providing the Service, we send transactional in-app, email, and (on the Android app) push notifications related to your events — for example, RSVP updates, task reminders, poll and Q&A activity, expense alerts, and account-lifecycle warnings. These messages are part of the Service and are not marketing. You can mute individual notification categories under Profile → Notifications, and you can revoke the operating-system push permission on your device at any time. App Store Distribution: The DeetsView Android app is distributed via the Google Play Store. Downloads and installations are additionally governed by Google Play's Terms of Service. The Operator — not Google — is solely responsible for the app and its content.

6. Intellectual Property

The DeetsView name, logo, underlying code, and original platform content are the exclusive property of the Operator. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of any part of the Service without explicit written permission.

7. Limitation of Liability (The "Ruined Event" Clause)

DeetsView is a planning tool provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without any warranties. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

Specifically, we are not liable for:

• Disruptions to your actual event due to system errors, bugs, or downtime occurring on the day of the event.
• Loss of data, budget inaccuracies, or scheduling errors.
• Financial transactions or disputes between you and third-party vendors (e.g., caterers, venues) coordinated through the app.
• Estimates, projections, or inaccuracies arising from the event cost-tracking tools. DeetsView is an estimation and planning tool, not a payment processor or financial institution. All cost figures are user-entered and must be verified independently.

The Operator's total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid us to use the Service in the past 12 months, or 100.00 DKK, whichever is greater.

Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold the Operator harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights (including the privacy rights of invited guests).

8. Data Retention & Inactive Accounts

To optimise performance and protect privacy, the Operator reserves the right to delete accounts and all associated data based on inactivity. Retention periods differ based on account type:

• Unresponded invitations: If an invited user does not respond to an invitation within 30 days, their account and invitation data are automatically and permanently deleted.
• Invitation-only accounts (users who have accepted invitations but have never created an event): Accounts inactive for 6 months will receive a warning email. If no action is taken, the account is soft-deleted for 30 days, then permanently deleted.
• Event-creator accounts (users who have created at least one event): Accounts inactive for 12 months are soft-deleted and a notification email is sent. If no action is taken within 30 days, all account data is permanently deleted.

Soft-Deletion: A soft-deleted account is hidden from event participant lists and friend lists. The account holder may log back in at any time during the 30-day soft-deletion window to fully cancel the deletion and restore their account.

Account Deletion (Cooling-Off Period): When you voluntarily delete your account, your data is placed in a protected holding phase for 30 days. During this period, you may log back in to cancel the deletion and fully restore your account. After 30 days, all personal data is permanently and irreversibly erased. You may request immediate permanent erasure before the 30 days have elapsed by contacting us at [email protected].

9. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

For EU Users: These terms shall be governed by the laws of Denmark. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Danish courts. If you are an EU consumer, you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform.

For US Users (Class Action Waiver): You agree that any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved on an individual basis. You waive your right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

10. Force Majeure

The Operator shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, infrastructure failures, denial-of-service attacks, third-party service outages (including hosting providers, CDN, or email delivery services), government action, or other force majeure events.

11. General Provisions

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Operator regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, representations, or understandings, whether written or oral.
