The Story Behind DeetsView

It started with a bachelor party in Denmark — and a Messenger thread that never gave a straight answer.

Where it all started

Two bachelor parties, three years apart, the same problem — and eventually, an app.

2018 — The first thought

The first bachelor party — planned entirely inside a Facebook group, across comment threads on a pinned post. The schedule was drafted in February and went through multiple rewrites before the event in April: Bowling swapped for Shuffleboard, Pole dance moved earlier, a bus leg added between venues. Every change meant a new post with a corrected list — and 28 comments of follow-up questions.

February 13, 2018 — First draft

First bachelor party plan posted in Facebook group — schedule from morning breakfast to evening dinner with prices

The first schedule posted to the group: Breakfast, Pole dance, Laser game, Cocktails, VR, Dinner — times, costs, and 28 follow-up comments to sort out the details.

March 8, 2018 — Who's coming?

Participant list posted in Facebook group — 9 attendees confirmed, two skipping pole dance

Three weeks later: 9 people confirmed. Still managed by posting a new list to the group thread.

March 14, 2018 — Times shift, bus added

Updated program in Facebook group showing revised times, bus transport between venues, and payment instructions

Another full rewrite. Activities shuffled, a bus leg added between the laser game and town. Payment split explained in a paragraph. A new post — 18 more comments.

April 13, 2018 — Final bookings

Final confirmed bookings posted to Facebook group — Laser game, VR, Shuffleboard replacing Bowling, evening venue

Bookings confirmed — and Bowling got swapped for Shuffleboard at the last moment. Another post, 20 comments. The event happened. The idea that there had to be a better way did not go away.

2021 — The moment it clicked

Three years later, a different bachelor party — this time coordinated in a Messenger group thread. The medium had changed, but the problem hadn't. Then one venue confirmed their slot ran an hour longer than planned, and everything downstream had to move.

July 4, 2021 — First draft

First polterabend plan in Messenger group — full day schedule with Metro legs, costs and budget

The plan lands in the group chat: Brunch, Metro, 5-game event, lunch, Metro again, bar & quiz, dinner, cocktails. Budget tracked manually. Sent as a text block.

July 21, 2021 — One change, everything shifts

Messenger showing 5-game venue confirmed slot until 16:30, forcing Metro and all subsequent activity times to shift

The 5-game venue confirmed their slot runs until 16:30 — not 15:30. The Metro had to move to 16:30. Then shower & change to 17:00, bar & quiz to 18:15. Every activity downstream had to be manually recalculated and re-sent.

August 12, 2021 — Still iterating

Updated program and budget in Messenger with revised times and open questions about costs and headcount

New times locked in — but fresh questions open. How many are coming? Who covers the bar? The cocktail venue nearly got booked out while they were still debating.

September 2, 2021 — Two weeks out

Final Messenger coordination two weeks before event with several items still unresolved

Two weeks before the event: breakfast, drinks, dinner, and the cocktail event still unresolved. Four months of planning, still coordinating in a chat thread.

  1. January 2022

    "We-Planner" — the first attempt

The first code was written in January 2022 under the working name We-Planner. The backend took shape — event models, invitations, a schedule structure — but life moved faster than the side project. Kids, work, and everything that fills the hours between ideas meant the frontend never got built. The repo sat quiet.

  2. 2024 — Restarted as DeetsView

    Built properly this time

The backend was rewritten, a full React frontend added, the Android app built with Capacitor, and the transport recalculation feature — the one that should have existed back in 2018 and 2021 — finally shipped.

  3. 2026 — Public launch

    Where plans come together

DeetsView is live — plan your next group event with shared timelines, RSVPs, budgets, and tasks. Invite your squad with one link.

— The name —

What is a DeetsView?

The name comes from "Detailed View." Most planning tools focus on the invite — but they forget the logistics. You don't just need to know who's coming; you need a clear view of how the day actually works.

After several iterations and "almost-finished" prototypes, we finally built the solution we wish we had back in 2021. One place for the timeline, the travel, the tasks, and the budget.

Accessibility first

Your guests shouldn't have to download yet another app. They click a link, and they're in.

Privacy always

Your data is yours. We don't sell your info to advertisers or third parties. Period.

"We didn't build DeetsView to replace the fun. We built it to clear the chaos so the fun could actually happen."

— The DeetsView team

Our Commitment

We strive to keep DeetsView free or low-cost so you and your friends can focus on creating memories. We handle the "deets" so you can have the fun.
